Making a difference

Funding & support from Ilfracombe Round Table

We’re a charity that raises funds to help you, the people of Ilfracombe. If you know of a community group, project or worthy cause who needs funding or support, read on…

Ilfracombe Round Table can provide funding to improve life for individuals or groups, or to benefit the whole town. We can’t do everything, of course, but we’ll consider every application and do what we can.

We’re also happy to provide manpower and volunteer time where we can, to support community events and projects. If you’re in need of this kind of support, please contact us.

If you’d like to apply for funding, you need do that here by completing the application form…

Projects we’ve supported

See some of the ways in which Ilfracombe Round Table has supported our community. If you know of an individual, project, event or community group that needs help with funding, please make an application now. If you need support with volunteer time, please contact us today.

Giving Mr Boxshall his independence back

This local chap has an illness which severely restricts his mobility. His community nurse told us he badly needed a specialist chair in order to have an improved quality of life, but couldn’t get funding from the NHS. We funded the cost of his chair, and the chair will be passed on to another local beneficiary when Mr Boxhsall no longer needs it, providing added benefit to those in our town.

Helping Elena through cancer treatment

Local teenager Elena was diagnosed with a rare form of life-threatening cancer, requiring a treatment which was not funded by the NHS. We helped to fund her treatment, which was thankfully successful. Having missed out on so many normal teenage experiences due to her illness, we also helped her have a magical inter-rail trip through Europe upon her recovery.

Food packages for those in need at Christmas

Food bank usage has spiked massively in recent years in Ilfracombe. It was our pleasure to provide food packages to local families needing this service at Christmas time. This wasn’t just the basics, but nice little extras which would hopefully help families have a special Christmas, even if they were facing tough times.

Promoting reading and computing for local kids

Our local library provides a vital service to the town, well beyond lending books. It’s a hub for families who are often most in need, and we’ve been privileged to fund school holiday activity clubs and computer equipment. This has enabled disadvantaged children to keep up to speed with their reading and gain vital knowledge in information technology

Helping the most vulnerable get the Covid vaccine

Ilfracombe Round Table were instrumental in the first roll-out of Covid vaccines in North Devon. We volunteered our time to steward at the vaccine centre, helping the most vulnerable get into the building safely and get their life-saving vaccine.

An Easter treat for food bank users

Needing a food bank is tough. Relying on it for essentials is a position more and more families find themselves in. But we wanted to give those families a treat. So we provided hundreds of Easter eggs, to make sure all families could have something beyond the basics at this time of year.

Bringing Christmas back

We were happy to provide funding towards the town’s new Christmas lights, and we volunteer our time at the big switch-on every single year. It is a pleasure to see the town so full of Christmas cheer, which would not be possible without the community coming together like this.

Looking after the hands that care

During Covid, our hospital heroes were washing their hands and using sanitiser so often that it was destroying their skin. We provided boxes of soothing hand lotion, which was essential in preventing sores on the hands of nurses working on the front line of the pandemic.

Bringing festive cheer to nursery children

We were honoured to provide books as Christmas presents to children at a local nursery. Not all families would be able to afford many presents at Christmas time, and reading at home can sometimes be a challenge within these households. As well as providing the books, we volunteered our time to be Santa for the day and deliver the presents in person. This brought some much-needed festive cheer to the children.
