Ilfracombe Round Table is a group of young guys who want to make a difference, and have fun while doing it. We’re busy professionals, but we want to do more for our community. Round Table really is a special organisation. Find out why…

A worldwide association

Round Table clubs are active in 80+ countries across the world. We were founded nearly 100 years ago, by a guy called Louis Marchesi, who recognised that young men needed a specific vehicle to make a difference (seeing clubs like Rotary aimed more at older citizens). The result was a club for men aged 18-45 who want to support their local community and have fun while doing it. The fellowship between Round Tables is so strong. We also work hand-in-hand with our family of clubs which cater to all ages and genders. Ladies Circle is for young women aged 18-45. 41-Club caters to men too old for Round Table, and Tangent is for women aged over 45. This family of clubs provides inclusivity, while also allowing men and women of similar ages time to bond.

Raising funds AND having fun

Round Table takes on a serious mission: Improving life for people in our community. But we also make sure we have fun while doing it. We’re all busy guys with jobs, businesses, side-hustles, young families and other community commitments. But we put in the hard graft to raise funds for causes we believe in. So we want to make sure we enjoy what we’re doing too. Need to plan a fundraising event? Let’s do it in the pub. Having a monthly business meeting? Let’s do it over a nice meal. We put the ‘fun’ into fundraising.

Socialising and making friends

Work hard, play hard. The great thing about Round Table is being with like-minded people. We’re all young, driven and motivated guys - successful in our own fields and wanting to use our experience to do more in our community. This means that as well as lots of fundraising activities, we enjoy lots of socials too. These are self-funded, of course, and separate to our charitable activities. But we regularly get together - with the guys or with our families - to have fun and cement new relationships. We do this with our fellow Round Tablers from across Devon, the UK and around the world too. It is a truly unique way of meeting like-minded people and forming lifelong friendships.

Unique experiences

Ever tried your hand at bell-ringing? Ever skiied a black run with 20 mates after several shandies at the mountain top? Have you marched in the Remembrance Day parade at the Cenotaph? Have you toured a European city with friends you only met that day? Round Table offers you opportunities to do things you never thought you would. It is a million one-offs, whether that is unique experiences with your own local Round Table, or taking advantage of the network of other Round Tables across the world (who will welcome you in and show you sights in their community only they could). The possibilities are endless…
